Original price was: $495.00.Current price is: $450.00.

Status: Field Ops Active | Clearance Level: Tier 1 (Observation) | Focus: Non-Verbal Indicators & Forensic Interviewing

The Mission Briefing

In the interrogation room, the most important evidence isn’t spoken—it’s seen. While most people look for “lying eyes,” a professional Investigator looks for the Micro-Expressions and Autonomic Responses that the human brain cannot hide.

In The “Lie Detector” Lab, Cadets move beyond the myths of pop-culture body language and into the science of Deception Detection. You will learn to establish a “Baseline,” identify “Hot Spots,” and understand how the “Fight or Flight” response manifests in a suspect’s physical behavior during the Solaris Sabotage questioning.

Description

🕵️ LAB 1: The “Lie Detector” Lab

(Body Language & Deception)

The “Observation Portal” Curriculum

  • 📏 The Baseline Protocol: Learn the critical first step of any interrogation—identifying a suspect’s normal behavior before the high-pressure questions begin.

  • 👁️ Micro-Expression Training: A breakdown of the seven universal facial expressions and how they “leak” through, even when a suspect is trying to stay calm.

  • ✋ Gestures & Adaptors: Distinguishing between “Illustrators” (talking with hands) and “Pacifying Behaviors” (self-soothing gestures that signal high stress).

  • 🧠 The Cognitive Load Theory: Why lying is “hard work” for the brain and how an Investigator uses specific questioning techniques to make a liar “trip” over their own story.

Home Lab Assignment: “The Human Polygraph”

Cadets will not just watch; they will perform a live field test.

  • The Interview Challenge: Follow the video tutorial to conduct a 3-minute “Baseline Interview” with a volunteer (friend or family member).

  • The Deception Log: Using the provided Agency Observation Sheet, Cadets must log at least three specific “Non-Verbal Cues” during a prompted “Truth vs. Lie” scenario.

  • The Solaris Interrogation: Watch the provided footage of the Solaris suspect and submit an “Observation Brief” on whether their body language matches their verbal alibi.

Learning Objectives (The Investigator Badge)

By the completion of this lab, Cadets will be able to:

  1. Define and demonstrate the importance of Baseline Behavior.

  2. Identify at least four Autonomic Stress Responses (e.g., blink rate, pupil dilation, or “the turtle effect”).

  3. Explain why “Eye Contact” is a unreliable indicator of guilt.

  4. Standardize a Field Observation Log for use in Phase 5 (The Mock Trial).
